Race. The majority of the population in Louisiana’s 10th Judicial District, consisting of Natchitoches Parish, is divided between African Americans (40 percent) and white, non-Hispanics (55 percent). Other races represented in the district include Asian, American Indian, Hispanic or Latino residents, and those indicated a mix of races. The Adai Caddo Tribe is located in Natchitoches.

Education. 27 percent of residents aged 25 years or more in Natchitoches had not graduated from high school in 2000, 7 percent more than the national average.

Bachelor's Degree. 18 percent of Natchitoches Parish residents held a bachelor’s degree in 2000. This percentage was slightly less than the state average and 6 percentage points less than the national average. Northwestern State University is located in Natchitoches Parish.
